Opportunities for Work Groups

We were thrilled to have youth and their leaders from Riverdale Presbyterian Church in University Park, MD join us this week to participate in a Mission Work Group project. They were an enthusiastic, hard-working bunch and they fit right in here on the campus, making themselves useful and at home. Carolyn and Don Fink, along with Dave Sisson, led the youth ranging in ages from 16 to 20 years old. In exchange for work in landscaping, painting and odd jobs, the group was able to stay in our lodges and enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner in the dining hall at a much reduced rate. They took advantage of our close proximity to New York City and worked in a soup kitchen; some participated in the Midnight Run. Our maintenance crew was happy to have the help on this 35 acre campus, they stained our outdoor dining deck and helped to beautify the grounds. In addition to their hard work, they made time for recreation visiting the scenic Harriman State Park; they swam in Lake Welsh right here in Stony Point.
