Active Parenting Now -Leader Training Workshop: Oct 3-5


This special Leader Training Workshop will prepare participants to lead both the Active Parenting Now and Active Parenting of Teens video-based parenting education programs. The training will be conducted by the programs’ author, Dr. Michael Popkin with additional sessions offered by two experienced Active Parenting leaders, Bruce and Carolyn Gillette, co-authors of Active Parenting in the Faith Community, about the use of these programs in church settings.

The workshop will feature a combination of lecture, brief video vignettes, experiential activities and group discussion. Participants will receive 14 hours of continuing education credit from NBCC (National Board of Certified Counselors) and, upon completion of their first course with parents, be qualified for certification from Active Parenting in both programs. We are offering a specialized track of this program led by Bruce and Carolyn Gillette titled Creative Ministries for Today's Families described here.

 

The cost of the two-day training is $350 and includes lodging, meals, participants workbook, and two Parent Guides, plus a coupon good for 20% off the price of each of the two curriculums being taught. Standard lodging is a shared double room in one of our lodges. If requested at registration, a limited number of private rooms may be available at an additional cost. Stony Point Center's 2nd Annual Homecoming
October 16 and 17, 2010


Join old friends and discover new ones at Stony Point Center's 2nd Annual Homecoming!

We will be honoring immigrants and folks from other countries who have lived and worked at Stony Point Center over the years. The weekend will include time with Co-Directors Kitty and Rick Ufford-Chase, a show at the Penguin Theater, and worship for those who wish to attend at Stony Point Presbyterian Church. 

Our Keynote speaker will be Claudio Carvalhaes, Brazilian pastor, immigrant advocate, and Assistant Professor of Worship and Preaching at Louisville Theological Seminary.

All are welcome as we continue to build a homecoming tradition at Stony Point Center.

Cost: $145 (includes immigration seminar, three meals, and your ticket for Penguin Theater. Assumes a bed in a shared double room. Single rooms may be available at an additional cost.)
