Workshop on Horizons Bible Study 2008-2009, "Jubilee! Luke's Gospel for the Poor"

The annual training workshop on Horizons Bible Study, led by Rev. Dale Lindsay Morgan, the author of the study booklet, will be May 16-18, 2008. Yonsei-PAM-SPC Worship and Music Summer Internship
June 23- August 16 (Two Months)
This global church leadership development program is In its fifth year. It is a highly structured internship module for seven competitively selected undergraduate students from the departments of theology and church music of Yonsei University in Seoul, Korea. The students come to Stony Point Center for orientation, then are placed in local churches, camps, and mission outreach agencies in the New York/New Jersey area. There they receive hands-on ministry experience focusing on hospitality, servanthood, multicultural and global connection through the lens of worship, music, and arts. They also attend PAM (Presbyterian Association of Musician) Worship and Music Conference at Westminster College, Wilmington, PA (July 6-12) and Korean Worship and Music Conference at Stony Point Center (August 11-14) They then return to Stony Point Center to reflect and debrief before returning to Korea.
Multicultural Church Institute at Stony Point Center
July 23-28 (Wednesday 3:00 PM - Monday 1:00 PM)
This is an intense immersion program to better equip local church leaders to carry out multicultural ministries. The Institute commands 32 contact hours including 20 class hours of highly experiential and interactive class design. Participants chose one of four coures: (1) intentionally becoming a multicultural congregation, (2) communication in a multicultural setting, (3) multicultural worship and spirituality, and the ever popular (4) "Learn to Speak Spanish in 5 days," for the duration of the Institute which also includes daily multicultural worship and exposure trips to various multicultural sites. Additional offerings are still being developed. An official certificate from Stony Point Center is awarded for those who have faithfully completed all the course work. Beginning this year, registrants for this program may now officially earn graduate credit from New York Theological Seminary (NYTS) if they also complete additional assignments such as a term paper. Global Village Interfaith Peacemaking Youth Camp "A New Generation of Peacemakers"
July 31- August 3 (Thursday 2:00 PM - Sunday 2:30 PM)
Youth from rising 9th graders through the recent graduates of high school of many religious backgrounds come together and create a global village of peace, justice, and interfaith friendship. The participating youth are trained in conflict resolution, mediation, and other peacemaking skills. 11th Korean Worship and Music Conference "Invitation to Christ: Baptism and Christian Life"
August 11-14 (Monday 3:00 PM - Thursday 1:00 PM)
This is the third time Stony Point Center and Council for Worship, Arts and Culture are co-producing their now annual worship and music conference for Korean American congregations. This is a bi-lingual (English/Korean), intergenerational and family conference with parallel and integrated children, youth, and adult programs. Included are six worship services developed based on the meaning of baptism found in the Lima Document (Baptism, Eucharist and Ministry). Theme presentation workshops will follow the recent PCUSA study guide of "Invitation to Christ: Font and Table." 2008 Peacemaking Colloquium at Stony Point Center, "Gun Violence and Gospel Values"
September 15-17 (Monday 1:00 PM - Wednesday 1:00 PM)
This annual peacemaking colloquium is co-sponsored with the Presbyterian Peacemaking Program, the Advisory Committee on Social Witness Policy of the General Assembly Council of PCUSA, and with Presbyterian Peacemaking Fellowship. "Gathered at the Table:Safe Haven for All" A Presbyterian Worship Conference
(Part of the "Being Whole in the Eyes of God" Series on Church and Disabilities)
October 27-29 (Monday 1:00 PM - Wednesday 1:00 PM)
This conference is for the pastors and lay leaders of local churches and presbyteries. Participants learn how to integrate people living with disabilities meaningfully and authentically into all aspects of their congregational worship lives. They will consider liturgy, physical space, theology, and a culture of welcome and inclusion. The program is made possible in part through a Worship Renewal Grant from the Calvin Institute of Christian Worship, Grand Rapids, Michigan, with funds provided by Lilly Endowment Inc.
